If you have an interest in dancing, and you live in or visit Queensland, then this site will be of interest to you.
The name of the site is “Queensland Dancing”, it will cover dancing in all styles, in all areas of Queensland except for the South East corner (Sunshine Coast -Brisbane - Gold Coast and west to Toowoomba). That area is covered by our sister site Dancing in Brisbane.
You will notice at the left, I have arranged to have pages for dance venues, dance teachers and bands etc.. As the relevant information is forwarded to me, I shall have it listed on those pages in alphabetical order.
Each of the days of the week are also listed as pages. Classes and/or social dance sessions on those particular days will be listed in chronological order.
The site will cover any style of dancing, and it will be completely FREE for any dance venue or dance teacher to have their relevant information listed. The information we require from you to be placed on this site includes:
* The name of your business or dance studio or venue or band etc.
* Contact details such as address, telephone numbers (email address is optional, you will need to personally weigh up the pros and cons of having it listed. One of the big cons being increased spam)
* The pages on this site on which you would like information posted
* Details of the relevant information for each particular page
If you decide to have a home page on this site, links can be made from each of your listings to the home page.
* If you have your own web site, links can also be made to it. However, we do expect a reciprocal link back to this web site. If you have your own home page on this site, it can be directed to the URL of that page. Alternatively address your link to this address:

This site is one of a suite of sites that are listed in the Australian Dance Directory. A Dance Blog site is a part of that directory also. Blogs will be published at least weekly on anything of interest concerning dance in Australia. If you have interesting information re up and coming events, let me know via email and I shall share it with all readers. You are able to subscribe to the blog and automatically have any new entries emailed to you.
If you are a dance teacher, or if you conduct a dance venue, then you may also have a web page on this site. There will be a once only set up cost of $110 (Including GST) to cover the time involved in building and publishing the page, keeping it in the same style as the rest of the site, in addition to a yearly maintenance fee of $27.50 (including GST), which will also cover up to four minor changes to the web page during the year if required. Your page can include logos and/or photos, provided these are forwarded to me with either gif or jpeg extensions. If you would like a home page on this site, then prepare a suggested layout, with content, as a word document and email it to me
Your help in letting dance teachers, dance venues, disc jockeys, bands, dance suppliers and any other relevant people know about this site would be greatly appreciated. To keep the site free, I have made it advertisement supported. The Google ads in the footer of each page will be related to the content on the particular page.
Once the word is out there, and there are a heap of listings on the site, I will be working at getting the site optimized to get high search engine rankings, especially with Google which currently gets a staggering 50.8% of the search engine market.
Two things that will help with the Google rankings are 1. back links (links from your site to this one) and 2. Content. The more original, searchable and relevant content on this site, the better the chances of having it optimized.
You will notice a Google search box on every page of this site. This search box gives the option of a search on this site, or an external search. Good and relevant information on your home page on this site will certainly help you to get hits. For example, if someone types in “Sunday classes ballroom”, and your home page has just that content, then it will come up in the search results.
My telephone contact number is 07 5547 7187 or 0400 106 654. You can contact me via email at ian@ozdance.info or ian@ianmckenzie.name

This site will be useful for all who are listed on it. It has been published as a bare shell in late Autumn 2007. It is hoped that by Spring 2007, on this site there will be a comprehensive listing of most of Queensland’s professional dance teachers, dance classes and dance venues. I do plan to contact many of you over the next few months. But, please do not wait for the telephone call or email. If you hear about this site, please send your details to me. If you are a dancer and you come across this site, please tell your teacher or people in charge of your favourite dance venues about the site.
Remember the site will cover ALL styles of dance.
The “Out & About” feature page will be fantastic free publicity for your business if you are featured. With the many hundreds of dance teachers, studios and styles, and the fact that each feature will be on display for a full calendar month, not everyone will have the opportunity of being featured. Priority will be given to those who are listed on this site prior to the end of June, 2007
